Focus on the shoulder: Scapulothoracic and cervico-shoulder movement relationships
In this workshop, Madeline Black explores the movement relationships between the scapulothoracic and cervical region influences on the shoulder region. Learn the connective tissue anatomy and movement function that impacts arm elevation, mobility and strength. The cervical region, including the head, plays a role in shoulder mobility and function. Discover how these relationships improve issues, strength and movement possibilities.
Objectives
Learn how the arm is attached to the torso and cervical region.
Understand the central role of the myofascial of the shoulder girdle to arm movements.
Clarify the importance of shoulder mobility and support.
Identify common inefficient patterns with arm movements considering the torso, cervical and head.
Learn movement techniques to restore and promote optimal function.
Experience Pilates techniques using the equipment to facilitate change, and strength gains.
Practice mat based movements with props to improve arm movements.
FOOT FOCUS: Activating ground forces how the feet influence the knee and hip
By Madeline Black
The feet play a dynamic role in facilitating whole body movement. Madeline Black guides you through movement and lecture on how the feet stimulate movement pathways. Many foot dysfunctions impact how the knee, hip and pelvis function. In this workshop, you will explore the structures and functions from the feet to the pelvis. Learn specific re-organizing techniques using Pilates equipment, and mat movement practices. Madeline will teach protocols for specific foot, knee and hip issues. Madeline will help you identify what interrupts continuous movement flow inhibiting gains of mobility and strength body wide.
Objectives
Learn the anatomical continuous structures from the feet to torso and their relationship to movement.
Understand how ground reaction forces from the feet establish how the body adapts to exercises.
Movement practices for reorganizing how the feet meet the ground focusing on foot function and gait patterning.
Assess the feet from rear foot to forefoot and its influence of the lumbo-pelvis-hip joint function.
Learn specific re-organizing movements to stimulate improved strength.
Understand the importance of loading the body through the feet for improved movement and health.
