Workshop Overview
Activating Coordinated Ground Forces: How the feet influence human movement By Madeline Black
The feet play a dynamic role in facilitating whole body movement. Madeline Black will teach a one-day workshop on how the feet stimulate movement and increase muscle activation focusing on the hip joints and pelvis. She will lecture on the anatomy of the feet and its continuous neuromyofascial connections through the torso. Learn the effects of coordinating ground forces and loading to increase strength. Madeline brings an integrated approach to movement, Madeline Black Method, Pilates, Gyrotonic™, yoga and fitness.
Objectives
Learn the anatomical continuous structures from the feet to torso and their relationship to movement.
Understand how ground reaction forces from the feet establish how the body adapts to exercises.
Practice movement protocols for reorganizing how the feet meet the ground focusing on foot function and gait patterning.
Assess the feet from rear foot to forefoot and its influence of the lumbo-pelvis-hip joint function.
Learn specific re-organizing movements to stimulate improved strength.
Understanding the importance of loading the body for improved movement and health.
Be able to assess and teach a movement session progression.
Hour by Hour
Movement class focused on topic.
Lecture on anatomical continuous structures from the feet to torso and their relationship to movement.
Assessment practices for feet and pelvis.
Movement tools for re-organizing the feet, hip joints, and torso.
Activating new patterns of movement.
Loading through resistance, Pilates based equipment and other choices.
The Dynamic Body focusing on Pelvic Source By Madeline Black
Contact hours: 12 hours
In this two-day workshop, Madeline Black will lead you through anatomical study, movement, and teaching skills focusing on whole body movement and the relationship of the pelvis to movement. We will explore the pelvis relationships to the many tissues such as the diaphragms and lumbo-pelvis-hip joint. She will teach movements that self-correct the body orientating it towards midline and balance. The content of workshop includes hands-on skills, assessments, and strategy building.
Day 1 Pelvis in Motion
Introduction, lecture on anatomy, dynamic gait based pelvic motions, observations of individual strategies.
Assessment skills
Assessment practice
Hands-on skills re-organizing the body.
Practice hands-on skills
How to choose a strategy plan based on assessment findings
Day 2 Diaphragms
Lecture on neuromyofascia of the pelvic diaphragm, breathing, intrabdominal pressure, torso control
Focus on movements of the hip joint.
Sacral area and pelvic diaphragm
Thorax and breathing practices
Teaching skills, hands-on, cueing, practice exercises
Whole body loading exercise sequencing.
