Leg Reaches with Rib Movement
Reaching the leg and the arm allows for the spine to move subtly from side to side. In this exercise, we do both, reach the same leg and arm for length of the one side of the body and moving the spine in a small side bending motion. Then, we reach one leg and opposite arm for functional spinal motion. The thorax spine moves in opposition to the lower spine and pelvis. Reaching with opposite limbs facilitates this movement. Follow the reaches with the rotating hips to add the element of spinal rotation, another functional movement for the spine.
