New Years Message from Madeline

Jack Kornfield writes in his book A Path for the Heart, “by taking unwanted sufferings, the sorrows of life, the struggles within us and the world outside, and using them as a ground for nourishment of our patience, and compassion, the place to develop greater freedom and our true Buddha nature”.

Life is good and comes with the struggles. Becoming more aware of these opportunities to expand our greater freedom, and also to embrace the gifts of joy, love and happiness. I leave you with your contemplations with this Rumi poem.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.

Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,

Some momentary awareness comes

as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,

who violently sweep your house

empty of its furniture,

still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out

for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,

meet them at the door laughing,

and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,

because each has been sent

as a guide from beyond.

Wishing you all the best in 2019 and embrace the obstacles for success and may they disappear.
